Description
The Old Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, located in East End, Swerford. It is constructed of coursed squared marlstone with wooden lintels, and has a concrete plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The house has a three-unit plan and two storeys. The front elevation has four windows, with two 3-light casement windows at ground floor, a doorway, and a canted 5-light bay window to the right, all sharing a tiled roof. A rounded projection on the left of the door is likely a staircase. The first floor has two 3-light casement windows and two smaller 2-light windows in the right bay. The roof has stacks positioned to the right of the centre and at the ends, and has been raised at the front, preserving dormers to the rear. The right end wall features a projecting stepped chimney and a small 2-light wood-mullioned window. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected. The building is listed for its group value.
