Description

Ditchley Gate is a gateway built in 1781 by John Yenn. It features limestone ashlar piers with large ball finials that are set on moulded cornices, flanking fine wrought-iron gates with a scrolled top. The original gateway was designed by Hawksmoor but was never built; it was intended to terminate Wise's Great North Avenue. Blenheim Park, where the gate is located, is included in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade I.
