Description
Alpine Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof. The ridge stack is made of stone and finished in 20th-century brick, while there is also a mid to late 19th-century stack at the front. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. There are flat stone arches above a 20th-century glazed door located to the right of centre and 20th-century two-light casements. The first floor has similar casements with timber lintels above them. Inside, the cottage has chamfered beams and is noted for its butt-purlin roof. The plan is unusual, with a large hall or kitchen to the right and a small buttery or possible sleeping chamber.
