Description

Rose Cottage is a house, originally subdivided, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is located in Church Enstone, near the B4030 road. The house is constructed of roughly shaped limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and has roofs covered in Stonesfield slate with rubble stacks. The building is based on a five-unit plan and comprises a taller three-storey main range and a lower two-storey range to the left. The main range has three windows on each floor. The entrance is positioned between the second and third bays on the ground floor and is flanked at ground and first floor level by three-light casement windows. Small-pane two-light casement windows are found on the second floor and in the first bay. The lower range features two two-light casement windows on the first floor and a second entrance. The rear elevation contains further casement windows. The roofs terminate in four chimney stacks. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of buildings in the area.
