Description
Hensington Lodge is a lodge built in 1876-1877 by F.B. Osborn. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a gabled Welsh slate roof, along with a limestone ashlar ridge stack topped with a pediment. The building has a T-plan layout and is one storey high, comprising a 7-bay range with one-bay blocks on either side of a 3-bay portico at the front. The walls are adorned with Doric pilasters. The pedimented portico includes Doric antae and corner columns, with a carving of Imperial eagles in the tympanum. The windows are plate-glass sashes set within raised architraves. The one-bay blocks flanking the portico each have a 4-panelled door with an overlight to the left and balustraded parapets topped with urns. The gable ends are stone-coped and feature urn finials. The interior has not been inspected. The lodge is included for its group value, as Blenheim Park is listed in the HBMC Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade I.
