Description
The Old Post Office, Beech View Cottage, Harris Cottage, and The Old Forge form a row of four cottages dating to the late 18th century, and possibly incorporating earlier elements. They are constructed from limestone and marlstone rubble with wooden lintels, and have a Welsh-slate roof with brick ridge stacks. The cottages have one- and two-unit plans, and likely include rear outshuts.
The cottages have two storeys, with two-window fronts. The external cottages have central doors positioned between three-light casement windows. The inner pair of cottages have adjoining doors and a single ground floor casement window. All first-floor windows are of two lights. The casement windows are old and mostly retain leaded glazing. The Old Forge has stop-chamfered lintels, and Beech View Cottage features a heavy chamfered oak doorframe. The shallow-pitched, half-hipped roof has two shared stacks.
The interiors have not been inspected. The group is included on the list for their group value.
