Description

Clover Hall is a house, dating to 1715 with additions in 1808, as indicated by datestones. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and some brick, with an artificial stone-slate roof and ashlar and rendered stacks. The original plan comprised two units, later extended to three. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. The two bays to the left are the earlier part and contain a wide doorway with a wooden dentil canopy supported by consoles. Flanking this doorway are tall stone-mullioned and transomed windows on both floors, which are likely replacements. A bay added to the right features brickwork to the first floor with similar windows and a second doorway. The roof has gable parapets and three gabled dormers. A triple-shafted stack with a plinth and moulded cap is located on the left side of the roof. The datestones are eroded but bear the inscriptions "1715" and "Clover Hall, Sandford, Oxon 1808." The interior has not been inspected.
