Description
This cottage, located approximately 10 meters north of Ibstock Close, dates from the early 18th century. It is built from coursed marlstone rubble and features a roof made of Stonesfield-slate and concrete plain tiles, with a 20th-century rubble stack. The cottage has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high, plus an attic.
The front of the building has two windows and two entrances with plank doors, along with two small casements on the first floor. The left gable wall includes a shuttered opening at ground level, a two-light casement on the first floor, and a 20th-century window in the gable. Most of the windows are topped with stone flat arches. At the rear, there is a stone external stair and a 20th-century dormer. Although the interior was not inspected, the cottage was formerly used as stables but likely started as a residential cottage. It is included in the listing for its group value.
