Description
No-oven Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with an extension from the 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble and coursed squared marlstone, featuring timber lintels and a thatched roof with 20th-century brick stacks. The building has a three-unit plan, likely originally with a through passage, which has been enlarged to an L-plan. It consists of one storey plus an attic and two storeys plus an attic.
The front of the earlier main range is lower and has a central doorway flanked by irregularly placed windows. At the first floor, there is a three-light leaded casement and a leaded cross window. To the right, there is a large stone flying buttress, and to the left, a single-storey bay. The 18th-century marlstone range projects from the right and features large leaded casements with three and four lights facing left. All gables have stacks, and there is an additional ridge stack to the right of the entrance. The left gable of the single-storey bay has a small two-light window in a stone frame, which may have been re-set from a medieval window. The interior has not been inspected.
