Description
Brook House is a house that likely dates from the 17th century and was raised in the 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels and features a Welsh-slate roof with brick gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan with subsidiary wings and stands three storeys tall. The front has two windows and a central doorway, with flanking three-light casements on the ground and first floors, and two-light casements on the second floor, all of which have been renewed. To the right, there is a lower kitchen bay with a three-light window and a blocked doorway. A rear outbuilding wing has now been incorporated into the structure. Inside, there is a large 17th-century open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer and the remains of a bread oven, as well as a stop-chamfered spine beam.
