Description
The brewhouse, located approximately 10 metres east of Astrop Farmhouse, dates from around 1700. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof. The building is a single storey with a two-bay range. There is a timber lintel above a half-blocked wide doorway, and another timber lintel over a 20th-century door in the right end wall. Inside, there is a stand for a copper next to a large open fireplace, which has a chamfered arched bressumer. The roof is smoke-blackened with a collar-truss design and butt purlins, and the floor is made of stone flags. This structure is included for its group value.
