Description
The Carpenter's Arms Public House is a house that has been converted into a public house, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed limestone rubble and features a gabled roof made of artificial stone slate, with end stacks of stone finished in brick. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a symmetrical three-window facade.
The entrance consists of a 20th-century door with a gabled hood, while segmental brick arches are found over the flanking two-light casement windows. On the first floor, there are timber lintels above three additional two-light casements. A moulded wood cornice adds detail to the exterior, and there are two 20th-century gabled roof dormers. At the rear, there is a mid-19th century outshut, and the right side wall features two mid-19th century canted bay windows. Inside, the building has stop-chamfered beams, although the roof has not been inspected.
