Description
Chopstick House and Olivieri Hairdresser are shops located on Market Street in Chipping Norton, built around 1840. The building is constructed of rubblestone and colorwashed stucco, topped with a shallow gabled slate roof that features stone copings and end brick stacks. Each shop has three storeys and a single-window range. Above a deeply projecting paired ogee bracketed eaves cornice, the upper windows are 16-pane sashes set in moulded architraves, with a narrow window featuring 20th-century glazing between them. The ground and first floors have canted glazed bays, and the first floor windows include 16-pane sashes, although No 5 has lost the cornice from its bay. The shop windows have also lost their glazing bars. No 4 retains an original six-panel door set in a moulded architrave with stopped roundels. The building is included in the register for its group value.
