Description

No 8 Market Street is a 17th-century house that has been altered. It is constructed of limewashed and part stuccoed rubblestone, topped with a gabled machine-tiled roof. The house has two storeys and features a two-window range. On the left side, there is a canted bay that extends through both floors, with small pane glazing on the upper floor and a 6-pane sash window on the ground floor. The right-hand bay has lost its lower section, which has been replaced by a large pane sash window. The central entrance consists of a 19th-century 6-panel door, which is topped by a flat hood supported by cut scroll brackets that project along the underside of the right-hand canted bay. The south end stack is shared with No 7.
