Description
This granary, dating from the early 19th century, is located approximately 50 meters southwest of Lower Grove Ash Farmhouse in Sandford St. Martin. It is constructed from squared coursed marlstone, featuring some ashlar dressings, and has a Stonesfield-slate roof. The building has a square plan and stands two storeys tall. The front elevation includes a stable door flanked by two windows, all set under segmental arches with projecting keyblocks. On the first floor, there is a two-light stone-mullioned window, and a similar blocked mullioned window can be found at the rear. The roof is pyramid-shaped and topped with an acorn finial. The interior has not been inspected, and it is possibly a converted dovecote.
