Description
White Cottages is a house that has been converted into three cottages. It dates from the 17th century, was remodeled in the 19th century, and extended in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared marlstone with renewed wooden lintels and features a Welsh-slate roof with stone and brick ridge stacks. It has a three-unit plan that has been subdivided and extended, standing two storeys plus an attic.
The front facade has four windows, which are 20th-century leaded three-light casements, except for the added left bay that has two-light windows. The entrances are located to the right of the center and in a 19th-century subsidiary bay to the right, both featuring brick porches. The roof includes two rebuilt dormers and two stacks, one of which has some early narrow bricks. The front wall displays carved stone with arms and the date 1907. The rear of the building has later extensions.
Inside, No. 2 features stop-chamfered joists and beams, as well as winder stairs. This building is included for its group value.
