Description

Cobblestone is a mid-17th century house located in Shipton-under-Wychwood on Trots Lane. It is constructed from rubble and features a Cotswold stone roof with end chimneys. The house has two storeys and two windows, which are hollow chamfer mullion type set in rebated surrounds, with drips to the ground floor. There is a central ledged door and an imported bullseye stair window to the left, along with a one-and-a-half storey extension beyond. At the rear, there is an off-centre doorway with a chamfered wooden lintel.

Inside, the house has a good interior with both ground floor rooms featuring spine beams with carved stops and chamfered joists. There is a chamfered doorway leading to the left-hand room, while the right-hand room has an inglenook with staff moulding on the jambs and a wooden lintel, as well as spiral stairs. The windows have rere-beams with carved stop chamfers and imported panelled shutters. The roof structure retains windbraces to the lower purlins, indicating a butt-purlin roof.
