Description
Simons Lea is a cottage, originally two cottages, likely built in the early 18th century, featuring a central projecting gabled extension. The structure is made of rubble with Cotswold stone roofs, which are hipped over the central projection, and it has 20th-century stone chimneys. The building has a T-plan layout, with one bay on the left, a projecting one-bay extension, and two bays on the right. The extension has angled corner blocks, with the right-hand block serving as the entrance. The cottage is one and a half to two storeys tall.
The right-hand section includes a gabled half-dormer, a cross-mullion window, and a small stair-light to the right. The projecting part features a small gabled dormer at the top of the hip and a low window at the collar, as it was once a beer house; the main window here is a two-light casement. The left-hand section has a heavy plinth and one range of small casement windows.
Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace at the south end, located in the corner of the left-hand cottage, and both parts of the cottage have stop-chamfered spine beams.
