Description

The East Terrace Wall of Shipton Court is a Grade II listed structure located in Shipton-under-Wychwood, extending from the south-east pavilion of Shipton Court to the south boundary wall along Plum Lane. Built around 1903 to 1906, likely by Bulmer and Perkins, this retaining wall supports the terrace garden to the south of Shipton Court. It is constructed of rubble and features triangular weepers and lean-to buttresses topped with ball finials. The wall includes two flights of outward-sweeping steps with iron finials on the lower piers; the northern flight connects to the swimming pool. This wall is part of the beautifully landscaped grounds of Shipton Court, where the Jacobean terracing was restored in the early 20th century.
