Description

Blackstones Farmhouse, along with its attached outhouse and wall, is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with an extension added around 1800 and a mid-18th century right-angle wing at the front right. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with dressed quoins, while the front of the left bay and the right wing feature Flemish bond brick with flared headers. The roof is gabled on the left and has a gambrel shape covered with concrete tiles, with brick ridge and end stacks. The structure is L-shaped, consisting of two storeys and an attic, and has a two-window range.

The front of the right wing displays segmental brick arches over a plank door, a 19th-century three-light casement window, and a late 18th-century six-pane sash window. A gabled late 17th-century stair-turret is attached to the front of the left wing, which also features a castellated porch from around 1800 with a six-panelled door (two of which are glazed) and a six-pane sash window. There are segmental arches over a 19th-century three-light casement and a four-light casement window. At the rear, there is a four-light wood-mullioned window that is ovolo-moulded.

Inside, the farmhouse contains chamfered and boxed beams, early 19th-century winder stairs, 18th and early 19th-century doors, and an open fireplace at the rear. The inspection of the interior was partial. Additionally, there is a small early 19th-century fuel-store to the right, which has a curved rat-trap bond wall and is attached to a tall chequer brick wall with a stone coping that extends approximately 30 metres.
