Description
66 and 68 Acre End Street is a house that has been converted into two dwellings and a shop, dating from the mid-18th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with brick stacks at each end. It has a central-staircase plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, comprising a three-window range.
The front includes a segmental header-brick arch above a 20th-century door that has a flat hood, with a 20th-century shop window and door inserted to the right. Timber lintels are present over a 20th-century three-light casement window and a two-light casement window above the central door. At the rear, there is a late 18th-century outshut that adjoins a mid-18th-century rear left wing made of limestone rubble, which also has a gabled stone slate roof and a brick end stack. Inside, there is a chamfered beam on the left and boxed beams on the right and on the first floor. The building is included for its group value.
