Description
This building is a barn and stable located approximately 40 meters southeast of Hookerswell Farmhouse. It dates from the 18th century, with some parts possibly being earlier. The structure is made of limestone rubble with squared marlstone dressings and features a corrugated-asbestos roof. It consists of a single range with a 4-bay barn and a 2-bay stable. The barn has full-height doors to the left of the center and slits in the other bays, with a lower opposed rear door facing the yard. The 2-storey stable to the right includes a stone stair on the gable wall that leads to a loft door. The yard front has a doorway between two small windows, all with segmental arches, and there is one small window above the door. Inside, the barn features late 18th century to early 19th century king-post trusses with struts, and the walls may date back to the 17th century. This building is included for its group value.
