Description
The Homestead is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations and 20th-century remodelling. It is constructed of coursed rubble with some ashlar dressings and has a stone slate roof. The building is in an L-plan and has two storeys plus an attic, featuring a four-window range that is positioned at right angles to the street.
On the ground floor, there are stone mullioned windows, two of which have hollow chamfers and flank an inserted 20th-century window, likely replacing a door. To the left, there are French windows in what was formerly a dairy, alongside tripartite large-paned sash windows in the end gable. The first floor has three-light casements, and there are three gabled dormers with casements that include glazing bars. The house has two ridge chimneys.
Additionally, there is a former barn in an L-shaped wing to the right, which is now part of the house and features a 20th-century porch in the angle, adjoining a former cottage. A stair tower is located at the rear of the main house.
