Description

Iron railings surrounding The Playing Close date from the 19th century and are made of iron. The railings enclose the area with entrances located at four corners along the two longer sides and next to the fountain. The posts are tapering and fluted, featuring square heads, with some still having ball finials. The railings consist of round-section rails. On the east side, two of the posts are embossed with "R.FOORT/OXFORD," while two posts at the northeast corner are embossed with "DEAN & SON OXFORD."
