Description
Heathfield and Lower Heathfield is a house in a row, now divided into two, likely built in the early 18th century with later alterations. It features coursed squared rubble, timber lintels, and a stone slate roof, with two end chimneys that have been repaired in brick. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a four-window range. Heathfield, on the right, includes two mid-19th century canted bay windows with large-paned sashes beneath a continuous moulded fascia that creates a gabled porch over a half-glazed door. Lower Heathfield has a plain half-glazed door with glazing bars. There are three gabled dormers, which are irregular and date from the 20th century. A date stone on Heathfield shows "R/WM/1673" in an oval, which was formerly "R/WM/illegible" and was recut in 1983. The interior has been altered but likely contains blocked fireplaces on the ground floor, and the positions of earlier dormers can be seen in the roof or purlins.
