OVER NORTON A361 SP32NW (North side) 4/97 Milestone approx. 300m NE of Banbury Lodge (not included)

Milestone. Late C18. Limestone with a cast-iron plate. Flat tapering stone with a rounded head has a rectangular plate inscribed "Chipping/Norton/2/Banbury/10 3/4/Miles". The Chipping Norton/Banbury road was turnpiked in 1770. (VCH: Oxfordshire: Vol XI, p131)
