Description

The building is a former stable and attached dairy, located approximately 20 metres east of Brandon House. It dates from the 17th century and is constructed of coursed squared marlstone and limestone rubble, with some marlstone ashlar dressings. The roof is made of Stonesfield slate and corrugated asbestos, and the structure has a gable-fronted square plan.

The building is one storey plus a loft. The front features dressed stone with a central doorway and a two-light stone mullioned window with a label in the gable. The right side wall includes an inserted flat-arched window. The roof has gable parapets and is partly covered with stone slates.

Inside, the walls have some stone ledges and are lined with blocked nesting boxes, while the roof includes ridge purlins. The single-storey dairy range extends towards the house, built of rubble with a stone-slate roof, and features a projecting gabled entrance bay with a datestone inscribed 1853.

This building is part of a fine group with the former Brandon Farmhouse.
