Description
The stable block, located approximately 130 meters north of Ditchley House, dates from the early to mid-18th century and was likely altered in 1924. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh-slate roof with stone and brick stacks. The building is designed in an L shape and has two storeys.
The symmetrical front has five windows, with ashlar storeybands that clasp corner strips and additional strips flanking the slightly projecting middle bay. The first-floor windows are 12-pane sashes with plain stone architraves and projecting keyblocks. The ground-floor windows are wider, featuring arched heads and keyblocks that connect to the band. The central entrance includes a double-stepped keyblock and an overlight.
To the right, the hipped roof extends to a rear wing, which is dated 1924. This wing has three square-headed 16-pane sashes on each floor. The interior has not been inspected. Ditchley Park is also listed in the English Heritage Historic Gardens Register at Grade II*.
