Description
This summerhouse, located approximately 400 metres northwest of Sandford Park, dates from the late 18th century. It has a timber frame with Stonesfield slate cladding and a slate roof, featuring an oval plan. The front of the summerhouse includes a square-headed opening beneath a triangular wooden pediment, which is adorned with an ornamental upper cornice, a central sunburst, and three simple finials. The roof is designed as a shallow oval pyramid.
Inside, the walls reveal exposed studding, and the room contains a contemporary curved bench with an openwork back made of interlacing serpentine bars. This summerhouse serves as a lakeside feature in the gardens of Sandford Park.
