Description

Lower Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to 1675, as indicated by a plaque. It features one bay from the 17th century, which has been altered with an early to mid-18th century bay to the left, and a late 18th to 19th century cross-wing projecting from the left end. The building has been significantly refenestrated and refurbished in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with stone slate roofs and rubble stone chimneys, and it stands two storeys high.

The 17th century bay has 20th century two-light plastic casements with old stop-chamfered wooden lintels. The lower window opening has been altered but still shows traces of former wider jambs. On the first floor to the left, there is a 17th century two-light window with an ovolo-moulded wooden mullion and surround, situated above a board door that has a 20th century gabled wooden porch. The 18th century bay to the left also features 20th century plastic casements, with the lower window having three lights and the upper window having two lights. This bay includes three-light wooden casements and a central door, also in a gabled porch. The interior reportedly contains some original beams and a large fireplace with a 20th century wooden lintel.
