Description
The Thatched Cottage is a late 18th-century cottage located in Lew. It is constructed with whitewashed render over rubble limestone, and has a thatched roof with brick chimneys on each side. The single-storey and attic cottage has two small bays. The left bay features a wooden single-light window low beneath the eaves, a board door, and a horizontal sliding sash window in the gable end. The right bay has older two-light wooden casement windows with metal fittings; one window is set within the thatch. A small, single-storey extension with a corrugated iron roof adjoins the right end. Inside, a staircase is positioned on the axis of the chimney stack in the right bay. The cottage is also known as Lew Hill Cottage.
