Description
Prospect House is a house believed to have been built in 1823. It features coursed rubble limestone with an ashlar front and a stone slate roof with coped gables and flanking ashlar chimneys. The building has three storeys and a cellar, with three bays. There are band courses at the first and second floor levels. The ground and first floors contain three-pane sash windows, while the second floor has four-pane sashes flanking a three-pane window. All sash windows have stone lintels, with the centre bay windows shaped into depressed arches, and the first-floor window featuring a keyblock. The cellar includes a large three-light barred wooden casement window with a segmental head to the right. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with a semi-circular radiating fanlight and two moulded stone steps. A royal fire insurance plaque is also present. The left gable end has a lunette window in the attic, and there is a rendered lean-to at the rear. The interior retains contemporary fittings, including a reeded wooden fireplace, a dog-leg staircase with stick balusters, and six-panel doors in architrave frames.
