Description
Mayville and Felix Cottage are a pair of houses dating from the mid-18th century, with refurbishment in the 20th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble limestone, with a stone slate roof. A stone chimney is located to the right, while a later brick chimney is on the left. The houses are two storeys and four bays in width, with the left bay being a later addition from the 18th or 19th century. Most of the windows are 3-pane sashes or wooden casements, mostly renewed in the 20th century, and have stop-chamfered wooden lintels. A cross casement window is located on the ground floor of the third bay. A 20th-century door is located between the left bays, with a 20th-century wooden hood supported by brackets. A late 18th- to late 19th-century 2-panelled door is between the right bays, with an older wooden hood on brackets and a wooden frame. A later 2-light casement window is situated above the right-hand door. A Sun Fire Insurance plaque is present. While believed to be of 17th-century origin, there is no visible evidence to confirm this.
