Description

Two houses, built in the mid-18th century with an addition constructed in the mid-19th century, located on the west side of Broad Street in Bampton. The building is limestone; the 18th-century section has a dressed stone front, while the remainder is of coursed rubble. The roof is covered in stone slate, with brick chimneys at the right end and centrally in the 18th-century portion. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and comprises six bays in total. The four-bay 18th-century section on the left has a band course marking the first floor. It features 2-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars. The right-hand ground floor bays of this section share a single 3-light casement of a similar design, and feature a blocked doorway. A single light on the first floor is fitted with early 20th-century stained glass. All openings in this section have flat stone arches, those on the ground floor with raised keys and end blocks. There is one gabled roof dormer featuring a 2-light casement. The mid-19th-century extension to the right has two bays of horned sashes on the first floor and 20th-century 2-light wooden casements with concrete lintels on the ground floor. Access is via rear extensions.
