Description

These stables, located approximately 50 meters south of Holly Court Farmhouse, date from the early 17th century and have undergone alterations in the 19th century. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with a 19th-century brick left gable and a gabled asbestos sheet roof. The building is two storeys high, featuring a timber lintel above the doorway and a chamfered timber lintel over a late 19th-century ventilator to the right. Stone steps lead up to a door in the right gable.

Inside, there are 17th-century chamfered roll-stopped beams and early 19th-century three-bay stalls, each equipped with a manger and feeding rack, along with harness pegs and a chaff box to the left. The roof features an early 19th-century collar-truss design. The original 17th-century stables were converted into a mill, likely for fulling cloth, in the early 19th century, with the left gable adjacent to a stream. The building is included for its group value.
