Description
No. 6 Brown's Lane is a house dating from the early to mid-17th century, which was refronted in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled concrete tile roof with a brick end stack. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a two-window range.
A flat stone arch is located above the central late 19th-century half-glazed door, which is set within a 17th-century ovolo-moulded stone architrave. To the left, there is a 19th-century canted bay window with horned glazing-bar sashes. The ground floor has a timber lintel and a flat stone arch above mid-19th-century horned six-pane sashes, while the first-floor windows feature timber lintels from the 20th century. Additionally, there are two 18th-century hipped roof dormers. Inside, the house has chamfered beams.
