Description
The National Westminster Bank, originally a house, is located at No. 16 in Woodstock Market Place. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a gabled stone slate roof with 20th-century brick end stacks. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a three-window range.
The façade is enhanced by Tuscan pilasters and a dentilled entablature that frames a carriageway on the right. There are three horned six-pane sash windows and 19th-century double-leaf doors with an overlight, all set within moulded stone architraves. Keyed stone lintels are positioned above the horned six-pane sashes, and there is a raised storey band along with a fine wrought-iron sign bracket. The interior has been remodelled in the 20th century.
