Description

Seymour House is a house, partly used as a shop, dating from the early 19th century, although it incorporates a 17th-century house beneath its facade. The exterior is of coursed limestone rubble with a stuccoed front, and it has a gabled roof of Welsh slate. Originally a single-unit dwelling, the building was extended to a double-depth plan. It is two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. A 20th-century door is set within a wide bow window with glazing-bar lights, pilasters and a moulded cornice. Above this is a canted oriel window with sashes. A mid-18th century six-pane sash window with thick glazing bars is on the right-hand side. Hipped roof dormers have 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars. A flat-roofed 20th-century extension has been added to the rear. The attics were not inspected.
