Description

These cottages, now two separate dwellings, likely originated in the late 17th or early 18th century, incorporating elements from an earlier medieval structure. The construction is of coursed limestone rubble with wooden lintels and ashlar quoins, topped by a Stonesfield-slate roof with rubble stacks. The original design was based on a three-unit plan, with a later extension to the rear.

The front of the building has two storeys plus an attic, and originally three windows. There are renewed two-light casement windows on both floors. Between the second and third bays is a reused 14th-century doorway, featuring a moulded arch and a hood mould. Above the doorway is a small, blocked window with two ogee-headed lights set within a semi-circular tympanum. A secondary entrance, serving the second cottage, is located on the extreme left side. A rear wing, projecting from the left side, has been extended. The main range has a steep-pitched roof with a gable stack on the right and a ridge stack between the first and second bays. The interior of the cottages has not been inspected.
