Description
The Eaton Hastings War Memorial is a tall structure made of Portland stone, located on War Memorial Green, which is a quadrangle surrounded by Roadside Cottages, a group of Grade II-listed buildings that are part of the Buscot and Coleshill Estates managed by the National Trust. The memorial is designed in the shape of an obelisk with a square base, resting on a square plinth and a two-stepped base. The names of those commemorated and the dedication are inscribed on the plinth. A metal plaque on the front face of the plinth features the main dedicatory inscription that reads: "FOR GOD FOR RIGHT FOR LIBERTY/ IN MEMORY OF EATON HASTINGS MEN/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914 – 1918/ ROLL OF HONOUR/ (8 NAMES)."
