Description
Philip's Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from 1658, as indicated by the datestone inscribed 'BTA 1658' located below the apex of the west gable on the south front. The building is constructed of rubble stone and features a gabled stone tiled roof with end stacks made of reconstituted stone. The south front has two storeys and an attic, consisting of two bays with gables and three-light mullioned windows. The ground floor windows have been renewed, while the first floor and gable lights are original, all featuring dripstones. There is a 20th-century stone and stone tiled porch to the east, along with one-storey and two-storey brick additions to the north. Inside, there are preserved contemporary features from the 17th century, including panelling to the east of the original central passage, the upper parts of a newel staircase to the east, stopped and chamfered beams in the two ground floor rooms, and the original timber roof.
