Description
6 and 7 Lechlade Road are a pair of semi-detached houses built in 1893 by Sir Ernest George and Alfred Yeates for Alexander Henderson of Buscot Park. They are designed in the Cotswold vernacular style, featuring coursed rubble stone with stone dressings, a gabled stone tiled roof, and stone stacks with moulded caps. The houses are two stories tall and face the road, with a gable end that fronts the War Memorial green. They include 4- and 5-light flat-headed mullioned windows with leaded casements. There are porches at the east and west ends, which are sheltered by deeply projecting eaves, and the doorways are Tudor arched with plank doors. These cottages are part of a group that includes two other similar buildings known collectively as Roadside Cottages, which are Nos 8-11 and Nos 12-14.
