Description

Number 53, known as Pull Croft, is a house with an 18th-century facade applied to an earlier structure. The front is built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, featuring flared brick headers. The roof is covered with old plain tiles, hipped on the left side, with a brick stack located to the left of the centre and another to the right. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. A six-panel door is positioned on the left side, framed by a wooden surround featuring fluted Doric pilasters supporting a segmental open pediment with a central bracket. Angled bay windows are located at ground-floor centre and right, with unhorned sashes containing glazing bars and wooden surrounds. The first floor has 20-pane unhorned sashes. Gabled dormers with two-light casements, having leaded lights, are visible in the centre and right of the roof. A 19th-century addition to the left forms a cross-wing, with a single-storey, single-bay range, and a four-light casement on the right return. The interior has not been inspected. A 19th-century brick wall with round brick coping and wrought iron railings and gates are attached to the front of the property.
