Description
Ranseys is a house dating from the early 17th century. It is roughcast, likely built on a timber frame, with painted brick on the right return of the cross-wing to the left. The roof is covered with old plain tiles, featuring a central brick ridge stack and an end stack to the right, as well as a ridge stack for the cross-wing. The building has a 2-unit lobby-entry plan with a cross-wing to the left.
The main range is two stories high with three windows, while the cross-wing has a single story and attic with two bays. There is a four-panel part-glazed door at the center of the main range. The ground floor features three-light casements on the left and right sides. The first floor has a jettied section on the left and center, with a two-light casement in the center and three-light wood mullion and transom windows on the left and right. The cross-wing has a three-light casement at the ground floor end, adorned with a floating wood cornice, and a three-light wood mullion and transom window in the cross-gable, also with a floating cornice. The right return of the cross-wing has irregular fenestration, and all windows are fitted with diagonally-leaded lights. The interior has not been inspected.
