Description

The east boundary walls to No. 72 on High Street in Sutton Courtenay date from the early 18th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar, tile, and brick elements. The main entry includes square-section brick piers topped with ball finials and two ashlar hinge courses. The entry has a 4-centred arch made with tiles as voussoirs and a central triple keyblock, topped with a flat surface. The main walls extend north and south along the street, adorned with a brick string course beneath stepped coping. There are also subsidiary 20th-century brick gatepiers to the south, which have stone pyramid caps. These walls have group value with No. 72 High Street.
