Description
2 and 4 Mill Street is a town house that has been converted into a restaurant, dating from around 1740. The building features flared Flemish bond brickwork with red brick quoins and dressings, topped with a roof made of Welsh slate and old tiles, and includes brick stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and stands three storeys tall with a five-window range.
On the ground floor, there are segmental arches above two blocked cellar windows on the left, a 20th-century three-light window flanked by a 20th-century door on the right, and a mid-19th century four-panelled door in its original position to the left. To the left on the ground floor, there are also segmental arches over a blocked window and a sash window. The first and second floors feature gauged brick segmental arches over 18th-century sash windows, and there is a moulded wood cornice present. The hipped roof has a rear lateral stack, and the right side wall has a similar two-bay design with boarded openings. At the rear right, there is a similar two-storey, one-bay range with a gabled old tile roof, a brick gable end stack, and an 18th-century sash window. The first and second floors of the interior have not been inspected.
