Description
The Great Barn, located approximately 40 meters northeast of Prince's Manor Farmhouse, is a barn that dates from the mid-17th century, with four bays added to the east in the 17th century. It features weatherboarding on timber framing and has a hipped roof made of corrugated iron. The barn has ten bays and includes plank double doors. Although the interior was not inspected, it is believed to have a queen-post roof construction with clasped and butted purlins and windbraces. Historically, this farmstead was owned by the Loder family from 1557 to 1713, as noted in "Three Medieval Farmhouses in Harwell" by J.M. Fletcher, published in the Berkshire Archaeological Journal.
