Description
The Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building located on Appleton Road in Cumnor. This farmhouse, now a house, dates from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with brick quoins, dressings, and vertical strips, topped by a gabled old tile roof and featuring symmetrical brick end stacks. The building has a central-staircase plan and stands two storeys high with a five-window range. A late 19th-century pediment hood is positioned above an 18th-century six-panelled door with an overlight. The windows have segmental brick arches and first-floor flat brick arches made of alternating red and flared brick, with 20th-century two-light casements. Additional details include a raised brick stone band and dentilled eaves, along with a 20th-century rear wing. Inside, there are 18th-century two-panelled doors, a straight-flight staircase with winders at the top and a panelled dado, and plain beams and joists in the flanking rooms. The roof has not been inspected.
