Description

The Former National School, built in 1823 by architect James Fidel, is a single-storey rectangular building with a small south wing. Constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, it features a gable-ended cement slate roof and a single brick ridge stack. The west front has a two-window range with a central door, plain stone lintels, and glazing bar windows. Above the door is an oval plaque and a bracket for a school bell. The north elevation has five windows, with a blank window on the west end and glazing bar windows that have been lowered with added panes later in the 19th century. There is an oval opening in the east gable, and the south wing has a stone tiled roof.
