Description

These are a pair of buildings at 19 and 21 West Street, dating largely from the 17th century, although substantially restored. They are timber-framed structures, rendered on the exterior. Number 19 has one gable facing the street, with two gables visible at the rear. It is two storeys high with attics. A small casement window is set within the gable, featuring a flat arch and modern glass. A modern oriel window is situated on the first floor, with mullion and transom glazing. The ground floor is faced with modern brick, and the upper parts are rough-rendered. Number 21 has a flat carriage arch on its right side, finished with rough rendering. The remainder of the building is also rendered. It features two windows with moulded wooden frames and double-hung sashes with glazing bars. A plinth is visible at the base, and there is a ground-floor shop front. The front door consists of two fielded panels and a single glass panel. Numbers 19 to 23 form a notable group.
